Firstly,  I think it was 4 years ago when she came to me with this fur jacket, so I could repair some holes in the armpits and other broken parts. I did my best with as subtle as possible quilting and strengthening the pelt, but the fur was, due to its age, very delicate, and very... broken.
So after repair, using it a couple of times, unfortunately it broke again! So I suggested that any piece of clothing that would have mechanical movements such as coats and jackets would break again and I recommend to cut from it - a big wrap/ scarf so she could use it over the wool coat or leather jacket. Following this idea, I deconstructed the old fur jacket, seperated the most broken parts and from the the good parts I arranged a long, wide wrap.
Even the scarf lining is cut from the previous jacket´s lining. This is a 100% recycling project, that now is in full use and without fear of breaking again.
Somehow I asked her once, is it possible this fur is over 50 years old? (guessing by the condition of skin inside). And she said - yes it was my grandmothers back in the days! It can be even older than that and see still can make a fashion statement!
